Excellent cafes in Warsaw offer their customers relaxation, a change from everyday life and pleasant and sophisticated services, food and beverages. Like mushrooms after the rain, places are springing up that impress not only with their design. But also often with a commitment to current social life and an ecological approach.

The aroma of coffee in the air, tempting desserts and other snacks and the specific atmosphere of good cafés make us want to return there as often as possible. Many coffee drinkers simply cannot imagine a day without visiting their favourite cosy café.

Coffee shops in Warsaw - find the best one for you!

The choice of venue depends on the nature of our outing. Whether we are preparing for a date, meeting a friend, or going out alone for a good coffee and dessert, or to work. Traditional cafes are a must when we are in the capital for the first time, as they tell a lot about the history and people of old Warsaw.

Other atmospheres are to be found in newly established hipster establishments. They specialise in trendy coffee roasting techniques or a zero-waste philosophy.

We have put together suggestions for each of these occasions, from traditional cafés to those with a more original profile and specificity. Here are the best cafes in Warsaw.

Być Może

This French-Italian-Polish café combined with a bistro and a shop is a sanctuary of taste in both senses of the word: food and aesthetics. Since 2013, the first location, now a mini-chain, has been established at Unia Lubelska Square. For the past ten years, it has been a firm fixture on the capital's gastronomic map, and is very popular with Varsovians. Café Maybe are captivating fragrances, spreading from the very entrance to each of the three cafés in Warsaw. Also impressive is the appearance of the bursting, huge yeast cakes and babas, offered with or without filling and topped with delicious coarse crumble. Paired with the delicious coffee here, it's a dream breakfast to wrap up and pamper at any time of the year. You can also satiate yourself here at lunchtime. There is plenty to choose from on the salty menu with soups, sandwiches and salads to suit all tastes, including vegetarian versions.

Recipients and regulars of the premises on Bagatela Street, have become accustomed to the slightly loft style of building the space. Wooden finishes combine well with tabletops filled with golden baked goods. What a positive surprise it was to discover the new proposal at Powiśle and Lwowska, where the interiors have undergone a radical though delightful change. Both rooms are brightened up, looking almost sterile thanks to the white and blue of the ubiquitous tiles and careful woodwork. Everything here is associated with milk, cream, flour and butter.

Café Bristol

Café Bristol is undoubtedly one of the most elegant cafés in Warsaw. If you fancy luxury combined with history and a brilliant menu, you should come here. It is located in the oldest hotel in Warsaw, now part of "The Luxury Collection" chain. It is worth noting the aesthetic qualities of the Bristol Hotel, which is an architectural pearl on Krakowskie Przedmieście. The interiors are beautiful and comfortable, maintained in the style of Warsaw elegance of the time.

Café Bristol attracts visitors to the venue thanks to its many qualities. There is also an intimate garden at the disposal of Varsovians and tourists. Many elements here contribute to the feeling of luxury and, at the same time, the uniqueness of this place. Café Bristol has been famous for its excellent cuisine for years. Here you can dine both sweet and salty, and the abundant menu includes breakfast and lunch dishes as well as desserts. The menu is surprisingly rich and based on Polish cuisine enriched with international elements. Dishes include veal schnitzel, green asparagus or beef tartare served with pickles, fries and French mustard. We recommend trying the Garganelli pasta - a poetry of flavour and sophistication. This cafe in Warsaw also has wonderful breakfasts.... A great and healthy smoothie or granola, or a Croque Madame sandwich, are waiting for you here to welcome a new day in the most delicious way possible.

Relaks

Café in Warsaw Relax is the ideal place if you are looking for relaxation and pleasure. The atmosphere of the bustle and buzz of café conversations, mixed with the sound of porcelain cups, surrounded by the smell of freshly prepared good coffee, taking in the fresh biscuitscakes or croissants. You can sit there in very comfortable vintage armchairs or on wooden benches. Open your laptop and, without losing connection with the atmosphere of Mokotow, start your daily work or simply relax.

This atmospheric café takes on a remarkable charm especially on winter mornings, when you can observe the snowy neighbouring townhouses through the large windows. In summer, it is nice to sit outside in the charmingly arranged garden. Surrounding the café, the tranquil atmosphere of Mokotow's pleasant Dąbrowskiego Street near the square and with its neighbouring restaurants and bars, gives you the feeling of being in the heart of the capital. Though not the one that drowns out the rush and noise... Everything about Relaks is an expression of its name, an unpretentious and cosy interior. The supply of simple and tasty drinks and sweets, the excellent coffee. You want to sit here and read the newspaper, work or chat with friends. Chapeaux bas for the founders, who have kept the atmosphere of unhurriedness here for years.

Stor

Stor is an established 2014, now iconic, cosy café in Powiśle. It is so beautiful here, albeit sparingly and coherently, so much so that already being in this interior is a pleasure in itself. It has something of the cafes of Paris or London because of its elegant simplicity. You can sit inside or go outside with a cup of coffee and sit on a bench.

The founders have relied on only the best coffee beans from the warsaw roaster. They offer pour-over coffees obtained through alternative brewing methods using drips, aero presses and chemexes. Drip coffees, will especially appeal to those who prefer a milder drink than espresso. At Stor, you will also taste good cakes and desserts as well as matcha lattes and cambinos.

A hugely important part of Stor's operation is working towards zero waste. The owners also support other cafes in Warsaw in the implementation of this concept. All the activities of the now two Stor locations, operate with the idea of protecting the environment as much as possible. As they proclaim themselves - they are making a green revolution in coffee shops. They have created a roastery that reduces its carbon footprint by delivering only by electric cars, the coffee packaging and labels are compostable and the products are delivered to offices and cafés in rotating Coffee Vac packaging. Stop by here! It's nice, trendy and with a head!

Hałas Café

Don't come here with your mum! It's not cute here; the creators have developed their own distinct style. This café in Warsaw is for those who love a slightly subcultural vibe, with simple decor. Without unnecessary decorativeness, but with character. This simplicity is an indicator here of the type of clientele the owners are targeting. Guests of this small pub arranged in the ground floor of one of Saska Kępa's beautiful townhouses spend their time either in a comfortable room at a table sipping good coffee and working on their laptops, or in a small outdoor garden on a bench, admiring the charm of the neighbourhood around them. Young and old, but free in spirit, will feel this place is a nice retreat, an alternative to working from home, a place to chat over coffee among a friendly circle of friends. The sweet and salty menu includes sandwiches, pastries and cakes. Noise Café prepares coffees both in the espresso machine and in the now very current drip or aero press, i.e. from a pour-over.

You can stock up on vinyl and listen to music. Especially for customers, the founders have created a record shop where you will find interesting items of electro music and alternative rock. Come here to relax, chill out, sit down and be uplifted by the music. Relax in the greenery of Saska Kępa away from the noise of Francuska Street. Don't forget to have a good overflow at the bar, the aromatic kind;)

Roślina Cafe

You are in the capital of your country, a large metropolis, you like being here, its hustle and bustle is your everyday companion, you have it as your "brother", but there come moments when you dream of escaping and want to get away from the hustle and bustle... At such moments, drop everything and go to Bielany! There you will find the tranquillity of the old suburbs, among the small stylish streets and low-rise buildings, you will feel like you are in a completely different city. Like on a mini holiday! This is where you should go to find yourself on Schraeger Street, in the charming Plant Cafe.

The name obliges, so the menu is full of vegan, vegetarian and vegetarian products, but the variety of products, their health value and the friendly way in which they are served will satisfy all customers. You don't have to be vegan to eat to your heart's content here. Enjoy a local soup or a sandwich with vege mackerel or vege salmon. For those who prefer vegetarian cuisine, they offer a large selection of salads with cheese and vegetables and scrambled eggs here. You can sit in front of the entrance, by the tiny street, on the gathered seats and loungers. Or take a table in the pleasant garden arranged to the side of the café.
