"For many years I have been fascinated by urbanism - the structure of the city, its geometric fabric. In my paintings, lines and shapes form a space that is more than just a three-dimensional reality. Initially, I thought of these spaces as cities, but over time they have become more and more like the image of a labyrinth.
A labyrinth in which there are no windows, doors, people or trees - just a stark, unsettling structure, devoid of the elements we know from traditional cities. This silence, the apparent simplicity of the form, evokes a feeling of unease in me and others.
The space I create, based on maps of cities I know, becomes a field in which people are simultaneously lost and invited to rediscover themselves."
