"tick, tick... BOOM!" ("tick, tick... BOOM!") is a 1990 pop-rock chamber musical for three actors written by Jonathan Larson (later author of "Rent" and winner of Tony and Pulitzer Prizes). The protagonist of the story is a frustrated composer and author celebrating his thirtieth birthday, who tries unsuccessfully to make a career on Broadway. "tick, tick... Boom!" is a musical that is Larson's de facto autobiography, filled with bitter yet witty observations about show business, everyday life in New York in the 1990s, the corporate world and interpersonal relationships.
