The Master and Margaret

"The Master and Margarita" is one of the most important literary works of the 20th century. A satirical portrayal of Moscow in the 1930s, Jerusalem at the time of Pilate and Christ, the Full Moon Ball put on by Satan for the world's greatest villains... and the fifth dimension that ultimately compromises the materialist conception of the world. I find Bulgakov's novel extremely inspiring; it is the perfect literary material for creating a show full of magic and humour, providing an opportunity for staged exuberance and reflection on the fate of the world. Finally, 'The Master and Margarita' is about the things that are most important to me - love and artistic freedom.
Mikhail Bulgakov lived and worked at a time of the greatest social engineering experiment in history. The Bolsheviks, in order to create a 'new order', subjugated everything and everyone. As early as 1918 Lenin ordered the closure of all independent newspapers, in 1922 he introduced censorship controlling every field of artistic creation, leading to the degradation of the status of artists and writers. He subjugated the courts to himself and the law only served to legitimise his decisions. Stalin made Soviet Russia a place where life was unbearable....
Bulgakov wrote The Master and Margarita in such a reality. In his literary imagination, he brings Satan to Moscow. Woland and his entourage in the terrible world of Stalinist terror do not have to do evil. It exists in a dimension unparalleled in human history. The meanness, greed, denunciation, servility or cowardice of the people of Moscow at that time is omnipresent. The devil is no longer needed by people. Neither does God... A master in a world of triumphant, total evil, in his novel he evokes the unconditional and total good - the figure of Christ, which in times of Stalinist terror is an act of extraordinary courage and artistic freedom. The Bolsheviks will not forgive him for this. Margaret, for whom the emanation of freedom is love, becomes a witch to save her beloved. "The Fifth Dimension" - fantastic
