From 1964 to 1986, Smokie was fronted and sung by Chris Norman, who later embarked on a successful solo career. The group, then still spelled Smokey, released their debut album, Pass It Around, in February 1975. It featured songs such as 'Daydreamin' and 'It Makes Me Money'.
In September of the same year, another album called 'Changing All the Time' was released. It featured Smokey's biggest hits - 'Don't Play Your Rock 'n' Roll to Me' and 'If You Think You Know How to Love Me'.
The group's third album, entitled 'Midnight Café', was released in April 1976. It featured songs such as "Something's Been Making Me Blue" and "I'll Meet You at Midnight". The group's fifth album, 1978's 'The Montreux Album', launched the hit 'Mexican Girl' and went gold in Germany. The band Smokie has released a total of 21 albums. The latest - 'Take a Minute' - dates from 2010.
