POiSON GiRL FRiEND to play first concert in Poland! The nOrikO artist will perform with her solo project on 1 September in Warsaw's Hydrozagadka.
Born in Yokohama, nOrikO spent much of her childhood in Rio de Janeiro, where she attended a French-speaking school, which influenced her musical inspirations. Growing up in a multicultural environment led her to an interest in Brazilian rhythms and French chanson. Growing up in Tokyo, she developed a passion for British New Wave music, and time spent in London and Paris in the late 1980s led to a love of the European club scene, which had a strong influence on her later work.
Her debut mini-album quickly gained acclaim, and a while later the artist followed suit. The album 'Melting Moment', which included the track 'Hardly Ever Smile (Without You)', combining ambient house with a classical string arrangement, showed nOrikO's focus on treading her own paths. After the release of the album Love Me, she focused on projects exploring dance music. She returned to activity under the pseudonym POiSON GiRL FRiEND in 2014, and 4 years later released her last major album to date, 'das Gift'. In recent years, she has collaborated with Sega Bodega, among others, and played a US tour. At the end of the summer, POiSON GiRL FRiEND will be coming to Europe to perform at the only concert in Poland, which will take place in the capital's Hydrozagadka!
