OPIA is a project initiated and patronised by renowned composer and producer Ólafur Arnalds. Under this banner, the Grammy-nominated Icelander has created an environment that fosters collaboration between young artists and strengthens the scene where contemporary and classical music meets electronica. OPIA functions as a travelling festival series, a record label and a community hub to support diverse initiatives and dialogue.
On 4 April 2025, the OPIA concert series will come to Poland for the first time! In the extraordinary space of Jassmine in Warsaw, two exceptional artists associated with OPIA will perform: Sofi Paez and YANA.
* Sofi Paez is a Costa Rican-born artist who has lived in Berlin for years. Known for her dreamy, evocative sound, Sofi combines organic piano melodies with electronic sounds. The classically trained pianist began composing when she encountered the work of Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds and Hani Rani. Within a short time, she caught the attention of Askjell - a producer known for his work with Aurora - who invited her into the studio. With the support of Ólafur Arnalds, she performed at the intimate opening of the OPIA Community in Berlin. Paez's personality is clearly present on her debut album Silent Stories. Her unique style is defined by the fragile balance between conflicting emotional needs and the harmony that comes from reconciling darkness and light.
* YANA is the first Polish artist in the colours of OPIA. Joanna Bieńkowska, a talented instrumentalist and composer from Gdansk, Poland, has gained recognition for her unique combination of classical instruments and electronics. Her debut album 'Solace' (2022) opened the door for her to collaborate with esteemed artists such as Robot Koch, and enabled her to appear on prestigious platforms such as Director's Library and Nils Frahm's Piano Day. On her second solo album Daydreamer, YANA further explores the emotional landscapes that define our inner lives. The album, which was released in October 2024 under the OPIA Community label, was recorded at the iconic Studio S4 of the Polish Radio in Warsaw. The album's rich sound is the result of combining lush string arrangements with atmospheric electronic elements.
