The waltz is a whirling dance of German origin. It was originally a suburban dance that was danced only in suburban establishments. From the suburbs, the waltz made its way into the ballrooms and salons of the bourgeoisie and even the aristocracy when, in 1786, the waltz was danced for the first time on the stage of the Vienna theatre in the opera Una Cosa Rara by Vicente Martín y Solera. Later, waltzes were composed by many composers.
