The legendary band Mayhem is coming back to Poland! The black metal pioneers will perform at the only concert in our country this year, which will take place on 10 August at the Progresja Summer Stage in Warsaw. Krakow's Owls Woods Graves will perform as a special guest.
Norwegian band Mayhem has been blazing a trail in extreme music for more than four decades. The band's rich history is familiar even to those who don't have much to do with black metal on a daily basis - after all, the murder of Euronymous by Varg Vikernes and the suicide of Swedish vocalist Dead reverberated throughout the first half of the 1990s, and then the band's early days formed the basis of the script for Jonas Åkerlund's 2018 film Lords of Chaos. However, Mayhem's contribution to metal history is not only their chilling stories, but above all their legendary and genre-relevant material - the 'Deathcrush' EP, the 'Live in Leipzig' live album, the iconic full-length debut 'De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas', the uncompromising 'Grand Declaration of War', but also subsequent albums, which never fell below a high level in terms of quality and presented the band as one that does not stand still and evolves its sound - "Chimera", "Ordo ad Chao", "Esoteric Warfare", and the currently closing discography "Daemon".
In August, the group will return to our country and perform at the Progresja Summer Stage in Warsaw, where they will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a chilling mystery show and a cross-sectional setlist.
Owls Woods Graves entered the Polish metal scene out of the door with their 2016-released EP, on which they married black metal with punk motifs and misfits choruses. On the albums Citizenship of the Abyss and Secrets Spies of the Horned Patrician they followed suit, and on the latter they added hooligan elements to their mix. They will play with Mayhem OWG moments before the release of their new album, due out in early autumn, classically on the Malignant Voices label.
