Not all Varsovians know that in the 18th century a Calvary Road existed in the suburbs of the capital, leading from the Three Crosses Square to the hills of the Vistula escarpment in the vicinity of the Ujazdowski Castle. The complex, consisting of 28 stations, was initiated by August II the Strong, and the foundation was also partly financed by his son and successor. The foundation, designed by the royal architect Joachim Daniel Jauch, did not even survive to the end of the century.
