A lecture in the series Time for Art!
Leader: Karolina Szymankiewicz
Porcelain has delighted Europeans for centuries. Created in the Far East, it reached the Old Continent as early as the Middle Ages, where it was attributed great value and unusual properties. Interest in "white gold" increased in Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries, and it was then that the search began for a method of producing the precious and expensive material that was unknown here - a secret closely guarded by Far Eastern artists. The lecture will present the sometimes dramatic events surrounding these efforts.
