Concert - William Basinski & Hinako Omori

William Basinski, a musician and composer who has been active in the field of experimental media for more than 30 years, will visit the capital's Club Heaven in April! The evening will be opened by Japanese artist Hinako Omori. William Basinski...

William Basinski's work uses analogue technology and tape loops to create poignant and melancholic soundscapes. His epic four-disc masterpiece 'The Disintegration Loops' received international critical acclaim and was selected by Pitchfork Media as one of the 50 best albums of 2004. The luxurious 2012 box-set release 'The Temporary Residence' was named reissue of the year and rated 10 out of 10 by Pitchfork.

Installations and films created in collaboration with artist and filmmaker James Elaine have been presented at festivals and museums around the world, and his concerts draw crowds and sell-out shows around the globe. In 2011, Antony Hegarty, music director of the opera The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic, directed by Robert Wilson, selected Basinski to compose the music for the work, which had its world premiere at the Manchester International Festival and was presented in Europe and North America in 2012-2013.

Orchestral transcriptions of The Disintegration Loops by Maxim Moston have been performed at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Queen Elizabeth Hall, at La Batie Festival in Geneva, at the Dark Mofo Festival in Hobart, Tasmania, and at the Pitchfork Midwinter Festival with the Chicago Philharmonic.

Hinako Omori is an artist born in Japan but living in London since the age of three. For her, synthesisers are a portal to the subconscious. "What I create at any given moment is a reflection of how I feel at that moment, the synthesiser is a response to that. Music really is a map of my emotions" - This is how the composer describes her art. Her multi-layered approach to creating music, in which ambient, vocal music and classical arrangements are often heard, can be experienced on the albums "a journey..." from 2022 and "stillness, softness...", released a year later.
