Jazzayah features Kayah's most famous hits in completely new, unique jazz arrangements, as well as her original songs, which have always had jazz potential and have now been given a new life.
There will also be well-known jazz standards, not only American ones, because after all, Poland also has beautiful jazz evergreens, which Kayah likes the most.
The artist's band will feature distinguished jazz artists – Jan Smoczyński, pianist, composer, and music producer of many of her projects. He comes from a jazz background but has a broad musical background, allowing him to create sophisticated, cross-genre musical collages. The rhythm section is comprised of world-class musicians, long-time pillars of top bands (including Marcin Wasilewski Trio, Tomasz Stańko, Aga Zaryan, Piotr Wojtasik): Michał Barański and Michał Miśkiewicz. Both possess a unique sound, and their invitation to the project always guarantees a breath of fresh air, but also a promise of sophisticated music, where the emphasis on sound, rhythmic elasticity, and musicality are the foundation upon which they weave beautiful stories. Traditionally, Kayah will be accompanied on vocals by her longtime backing singer, Iwona Zasuwa, who has shared the stage with her for 25 years.
KAYAH – vocalist, composer, songwriter, and founder of the Kayax record label. One of the most recognized and appreciated artists in Poland. Known for hits such as "Po co," "Supermenka," "Testosteron," "Na językach," "Prawy do lewego," "Śpij kochanie pijaj," "Ramię w ramie" (Range to Shoulder), and the recent single for the film "Chłopi" (The Peasants), "Jesień-Dańcuj." She released her debut album, "Kamień," in 1995 and has released 11 albums to date (Kamień, Zebra, Kayah i Bregovic, Jaka Ja Kayah, StereoTyp, The Best & the Rest, MTV Unplugged, Skała, Kayah & Royal Quartet, Transoriental Orchestra, and the Christmas album "Gdy padaśnie"). During her solo music career, she has received major music awards, including for best female vocalist, best composer, best song, and best album. In 2007, she released the DVD "Kayah – MTV Unplugged," featuring a concert recording from the renowned series, to which Kayah was the first artist from Central and Eastern Europe to be invited. All of her albums have achieved Gold, Platinum, and even Diamond certifications. She has collaborated with, and continues to collaborate, with such world-renowned artists as Goran Bregović, Cesaria Evora, Teofilo Chantre, Idan Raichel, Elida Aimeida, and Yasmin Levy.
