Kaleida, the transatlantic female duo whose dark, mystical sounds find glimmers of hope in anxiety, will visit Poland, three times! Christina Wood and Cicely Goulder, despite the ocean separating them, have been creating a musical alchemy for a decade that resists the vicissitudes of life. In Poland, they will visit Warsaw, Wrocław, and Krakow, their tour starting on the 5th ...
The band rose to international prominence in 2014 when their single 'Think' gained viral hit status and was featured on the soundtrack of the film John Wick. Subsequent releases such as the EP 'Think' and debut album 'Tear The Roots' have cemented their position in the electronic music scene. The duo combine Wood's ethereal, operatic vocals with Goulder's neo-noir electronica, best exemplified by the soundtracks to films such as Atomic Blonde, where Kaleida presented a subtle version of the classic track '99 Luftballons'.
The second album, Odyssey, was created largely virtually as Wood and Goulder worked remotely, sharing ideas online. In pandemonium, the duo struggled with separation and life's challenges - the pressures of motherhood and not being able to tour.
On their new album, global tensions such as the war in Ukraine and the unfolding climate crisis permeate their songs, weaving in uplifting tones. "Even in Pandora's box there was hope," says Christina Wood. In 'In Arms', the duo explores themes of transcendence, spirituality and the contrast of light and darkness, inspired by the figure of Joan of Arc, among others. One of the singles is 'Seagull Nun', the first track Wood and Goulder worked on together. It was based on a demo created by Christina in Indonesia, with the final version only completed after Pandemic.
The new album is not only a glimpse into the future, but also a tribute to the past. Three remixes of the single, created by artists including Lido Pimienta, Boom Bip and Actress, have been released to celebrate the seventh anniversary of the Think EP in 2022. "It's a constant dialogue of music and emotion," - says Goulder of their collaboration. This unique relationship, which has weathered separation and life's storms, is the driving force behind Kaleida as they enter a new chapter in their career.
