The Dutch representative in the Eurovision Song Contest will perform in Poland!
Joost Klein is a 26-year-old performer, writer and artist. His energetic style combines elements of mainstream pop with joyful hardcore and punk. He is praised for his poetic lyrics combined with catchy beats that capture the spirit of youth. In his songs, he talks about personal suffering, such as losing his parents at a young age, and speaks openly about his mental health issues. She transforms sadness into elation, with the message that we are all human. "It's ok: none of us are ok".
He is representing the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Europapa', which is a tribute to his father. Through the song, he shows that there are no limits if you want to fulfil your dreams and tell your story. "Europapa" is a crazy mix of nostalgia, melancholy and happiness combined with poetic lyrics and the catchy beats that Joost is famous for.
"Europapa is about an orphan who travels around Europe (and beyond) to find himself and tell his story," explains Joost. "At first people don't recognise him, but he takes every opportunity to let himself be seen. 'Europapa' is a tribute to my father. In raising me, he passed on to me a broad view of the world."
On the Dutch and Belgian concert circuit, Joost is known for his legendary performances at festivals such as Lowlands, Pinkpop and Pukkelpop. Last November he gave two sold-out concerts at Amsterdam's AFAS Live for 6,000 people. He recently won the prestigious Popprijs 2023 award, given annually in the Netherlands to the band or artist who has made the biggest impact on Dutch pop music in a given year.
Joost's foreign fan base is also growing. In Belgium, he performed at the sold-out Lotto Arena in Antwerp. Last summer, Joost's song 'Friesenjung' became a number 1 hit in Germany. Since then, it has garnered more than 100 million streams worldwide and was awarded the title of 'Best Song' in Germany's 1LIVE Krone radio awards. Joost also has many fans in Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, the UK, Poland, Italy and Ukraine.
Joost's first European tour in February 2024 took in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and was sold out. The artist is looking forward to taking his bigger show on an even bigger tour in 2025!
