As part of the JAZZ PO POLSKU 'Warsaw Live Sessions' project, there will be further authoritative concerts by the leaders of the Polish jazz scene, as well as guests from abroad.
Know Material takes its listeners on journeys through the whole range of feelings - from melancholy to carefree, with intertwining themes of self-discovery. The songs are a tale of contrasts between helplessness and sadness, and joy, strength and constant self-discovery. They contain a reflection of the thoughts that most young people face today. With our music, we try to persuade the audience to authentically experience their lives and the emotions associated with them.
Founded in 2022 at the Academy of Music in Katowice by Kajetan Skoneczny (vibraphone), Kacper Kałuża (drums), Filip Botor (double bass) and Maciej Prokopowicz (trombone), the band combines youthful energy and a gentle air of sensitivity. The overriding aim in their music is to tell stories and convey the emotions associated with them. Complementing the whole, their outstanding technical skills and original sense of improvisation mean that experiencing their concert leaves the listener with something once-in-a-lifetime and unique, yet universal and timeless.
In 2023. As a band, Know Material was a finalist in competitions such as JazzJuniors 2023 (2nd place), Jazz nad Odrą, Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa (Grand Prix), Klucz Do Kariery im. Marek Karewicza (Grand Prix), which resulted in the release of their debut album 'now you know'. They are currently working on new material.
