HAIR is an over two-hour show full of energetic live music, colourful costumes, distinctive hairstyles and impressive choreography performed by a cast of twenty. The audience will feel the atmosphere of the 1960s, when a loud cry for freedom, peace and acceptance was raised over New York. The Polish rendition will feature the musical's biggest hits including "Aquarius", the title song "Hair", "Good Morning Starshine" and "Let the Sunshine In". Welcome to the world of hippies in the iconic 1967 musical.
The musical was written by Gerome Ragni, James Rado, friends from an amateur theatre company, who decided, with the help of friends from the theatre company, to tell the audience the story of a group of hippies fighting for peace, human rights and tolerance in the broadest sense. Galt MacDermot, a Canadian composer and Grammy Award-winning composer, among others, joined the creative team. The musical became the authors' and performers' response to the policy of the US war effort in Vietnam in the 1960s, and the resulting compulsory military conscription of young citizens who, by going to war, left behind dreams of their own future in their homeland. Through its meaning, the musical became the object of numerous manifestations both supporting its tone and negating the carefree behaviour of the characters and the slogans they proclaimed. HAIR has, in the opinion of critics and theatregoers, become one of the most important musicals of all time. The title has been recognised as one of the most resounding theatrical manifestos, still relevant and captivating audiences around the world.
