Grzegorz Dolniak's latest stand-up show, "Mogło być gorzej", is a comedic journey from a tenant's mobile phone full of stuff, to aggressive driving in a Skoda Citigo, fish spas, clouds in the shape of dogs, dreams of a desktop computer and high cholesterol, during which Grzegorz, with his characteristic expressiveness, proves to you that things could always be worse.
Grzegorz Dolniak (born 3 June 1986 in Szczecin, Poland) - Polish stand-up and comedy event organiser, formerly a cabaret performer, improviser, presenter and announcer.
Grzegorz Dolniak - cabaret artist
Grzegorz Dolniak showed an interest in comedy already in high school, where he and his friends performed in the school cabaret and belonged to theatre circles. During his studies, he founded the Szarpanina cabaret and organised the first Szczecin Review of Authors' Cabarets, or SZPAK. By his own admission, he has always been attracted to the stage and it was there that he spent more time, neglecting his studies at school. Together with Szarpanina, he performed until 2013, winning the most important prizes at cabaret reviews.
Grzegorz Dolniak - first stand-up
Grzegorz Dolniak decided to pursue a solo career after leaving the cabaret. He did stand-up for the first time on 6 July 2013 during the 'Wczasów z Kabaretem' in Szczecin's amphitheatre. Although he did not have the opportunity to test his 5-minute material, his monologue about Szczecin received good reviews that day. A year later, he decided to move to Warsaw, where he saw better chances for stage development.
Grzegorz Dolniak - journalist and improviser
After moving to the capital, Grzegorz Dolniak artistically focused mainly on improvisation theatre, where he co-founded the group Przyjezdni between 2014 and 2017. He performed mainly at the Boho22 club, where he founded the Central Comedy Cooperative together with other artists. In the meantime, he started working in television as a presenter and journalist. On TVP2, he published original programmes and satirical columns on Pytanie na śniadanie, which he also happened to host. On TVP Rozrywka he co-created a programme about cabaret, and for Puls TV, Polsat and TVN he produced journalistic material. In the following years, he created improv with the group Damy na Pany, with which he was associated until 2018, although, as he himself admits, it was only an addition to his work as a journalist and announcer.
Grzegorz Dolniak - full-time stand-ruiner
Grzegorz Dolniak, while dealing with improvisation, did not completely give up stand-up, which he "did once a year". He felt that he was not making progress in this form of comedy, and found it hard to switch from cabaret. His girlfriend advised him that he should perform more often if he wanted to make a change. This advice turned out to be so good that the comedian began to achieve success. Grzegorz Dolniak's online debut material, posted in April 2018 on the SZPAK channel, was very well received, and the first full programme Klamka Zapadła has already exceeded 1.5 million views on YouTube. In 2019, the stand-uper released a recording of his childhood memories. The flashback not only topped nearly double the previous material in terms of views, but also impressed in terms of production recorded in 4K. All this has led Grzegorz Dolniak to abandon both improv and television work and to take up stand-up exclusively. He is currently performing with the show 'The Term of Usefulness'.
