George Clanton at the only concert in Poland! One of the fathers of vaporwave will perform on 11 September in Warsaw's Proxima club.
George Clanton is a Los Angeles-based composer and founder of the 100% Electronica label, whose music is characterised by a high nostalgia factor. His work itself does not focus on one particular genre - despite being labelled one of the inventors of vaporwave (mainly by operating under the pseudonym ESPIRIT) and running a label specialising in the genre, he plays with inspiration and uses technology to fuse together influences from synth pop, trip-hop and alternative rock. Clanton avoids the irony that is characteristic of the internet electronic music trend and focuses on building compositions that evoke strong emotions in the listener. In 2015, he set his sights on continuing his career under his real name (he previously performed as the aforementioned ESPIRIT and the lo-fi synthpop band Mirror Kisses) and merged the sound of his previous projects. Two of his most popular albums, i.e. Slide (2018) and Ooh Rap I Ya (2023), evoke the spirits of genres such as mostntis dance-pop, alternative dance and trip-hop, by which the musician has been compared to George Michael or Seal. His oeuvre also includes discs recorded in collaboration with artists such as Nick Hexum of 311 and TV Girl, with whom he released the album 'Fauxllennium' last year.
His natural habitat is the stage, which he showed last year at the OFF Festival and by performing in front of TV Girl. At the concert in Proxima you can expect incredible energy, dozens of jokes and, above all, great music!
