'Film ANIMALS. A review of romantic comedies" is no ordinary event!
This is a series of meetings in which Kasia Czajka-Kominiarczuk, author of the blog Zwierz Popkulturalny (that is, the woman who knows more about films than all of us put together), serves us a review of romantic comedies. But be warned - this is not going to be a sentimental brooding over candy love stories. Kasia will take us on a journey full of humour, brilliant insights and insightful analysis. If you think this is going to be a light-hearted pitu-pitu about lovers, you're wrong.
'Notting Hill' is a film that shows that love can find you anywhere - even in a small bookshop in London. Hollywood stardom, clumsy confessions and the iconic "I'm just a girl..." make it hard not to fall in love. And if that's not enough, there's always Spike - the housemate who will steal every scene (and your heart) in just his underpants. Then there's Hugh Grant, because who else could pour you orange juice with such charm?
Kasia, known not only as a blogger, but also as a book author, lecturer and champion of the radio airwaves, makes sure that we not only laugh at the occasion, but also think - if only for a moment - about what the films actually say about ourselves. Her knowledge of the Oscars and the impact of cinema on society is almost encyclopaedic (at least for us mere mortals), so every film gets a solid dose of analysis. And there's no doubt about it, the meetings will be full of passion, humour and, above all, discoveries that familiar films can surprise us. It's a real treat for film fans who want to see more than just what's on the screen.
