Join us for a family concert in the series 'Unusual Instruments - The hurdy-gurdy' - a magical instrument of the 13th century. The instrument's sound is distinctive and somewhat reminiscent of bagpipes or violins. The hurdy-gurdy has a long history, dating back to the Middle Ages, and its modern use covers a variety of musical genres, including old-time, folk, jazz, industrial and contemporary popular music.
The concert and workshop will be led by Anna Raskolnikoff, pedagogue, folk lute player and artist performing Polish folk songs with hurdy-gurdy accompaniment. An enthusiast of the Kurpie region and its people. She has been singing since childhood. In love with Kurpie songs.
