The Museum of Sport and Tourism in Warsaw invites you to a unique exhibition of old prints. It will be a presentation of books concerning the historical beginnings of sport and tourism. The oldest works on display are almost 500 years old!
The books that will be on display include unique illustrations depicting figures of fencers, swimmers and wrestlers, among others. The graphics bear witness to the early forms of physical activity that formed the basis of modern sports.
The old prints are particularly valuable and are not open to the public on a daily basis. Last year, some of them underwent conservation treatment to ensure their safety and longevity.
The exhibition is a unique opportunity to see how the first attempts at systematic sports were depicted in the past, and how the ideas of travel and tourism were shaped. It is also a chance to admire the craftsmanship of the ancient artisans who created books by hand, at a time when mass production was not yet possible.
You are cordially invited to visit the exhibition. There will not be much time, as due to the value and delicacy of the exhibits on display, the presentation will only last a few weeks.
