Planet Polch is one of the largest and most visited planets of Polish comics. Suspended in the space of frames between hyperrealism and unfettered imagination, between the everyday reality of the People's Republic of Poland and the fascination with the West, high art and pop culture, it has been attracting the attention of successive generations of comic book explorers for years. Planet Polch - an exhibition of Bogusław Polch's comic strips - is an unforgettable journey through time and space.

About the exhibition
The Museum's task is to recall the most important achievements of Polish comics art. For several years, we have been presenting the most important creators. There have been exhibitions of Papa Chmiel or Grzegorz Rosinski. The time has come to present the work of Bogusław Polch, one of the unquestioned classics of Polish comics. Warsaw likes comics. And that is why comics is permanently present in the programme of the Museum of Caricature," emphasises Paweł Płoski, director of the Museum of Caricature.

Bogusław Polch is a legend of Polish comics. Co-creator of cult series: Captain Wildcat, Expedition, Funky Koval and The Witcher, has entered the history of cartoon stories as a specialist in dynamic, adventure narratives. His style, recognisable from the very first line, is a combination of precise technique and the ability to build up story tension. Pulpy, dense, detailed to the point of readability, his comics fit perfectly into the new adventure trend.

One of the most recognisable titles in Polch's oeuvre is 'Funky Koval', created to a script by Maciej Parowski and Jacek Rodek. At the exhibition, it will be possible to trace the process of creating the album 'Sam przeciwko wszystkim', the second volume of the series about the cosmic detective. Alongside the original boards in ink, as well as blaudprints and diapositives, previously unexposed notes for the script, preliminary sketches and storyboards will be shown!

As Michał Rzecznik, the exhibition's curator, emphasises: This is a unique exhibition dedicated to fans of classic cartoon art, to people who are interested in the process of creating cartoon stories in analogue times. Fans of the retro style will certainly appreciate Polch's detailed boards woven with references to pop culture icons and desgin. Millennials will find the room devoted to advertising storyboards, full of nostalgia for the 1990s, a particular attraction.

During the expedition to Planet Polch, in addition to Funky Koval, we are sure to meet the other inhabitants of the planet: Geralt of Rivia, Ais from the planet Des, Tom Grot also known as Jan Tenner, and even Captain Wildcat and Lieutenant Kuna. And finally, we will move back to the 1990s and 2000s to discover more than 300 Bogusław Polch's advertising storyboards.
