Exhibition in the Museum of the Field Ordinariate

Exhibition in the Museum of the Field Ordinariate

Since 9 December 2010, the Museum of the Field Ordinariate, a branch of the Museum of Warsaw, has been operating in Warsaw. The Museum, located in the basement of the Field Cathedral of the Polish Army, offers an insight into the history of the military ministry, from the Baptism of Poland to the present day.

Visitors can view multimedia presentations on the history of the cathedral and the fate of the chaplains. Noteworthy exhibits include handicrafts dating back to the mid-17th century, field altars, uniforms, liturgical paraments used by military chaplains, as well as documents and photographs.

The Museum's collection includes the pastoral cope of the first Field Ordinary, Stanislaw Gall, donated in 1918 by the military clergy, and the mitre and pontifical gloves of Bishop Józef Gawlina.

In the basement of the cathedral there is also a room dedicated to the chaplains who died on 10 April 2010, in the plane crash near Smolensk.

You are cordially invited to the basement of the Field Cathedral of the Polish Army in Długa Street.

OPENING HOURS:
