BURSZTYN POLAND AND THE WORLD is the new, ninth permanent exhibition at the PAS Museum of the Earth devoted to amber. Each successive permanent exhibition provides visitors with newly acquired specimens of increasingly interesting scientific and exhibition value. In order to provide the viewer with an always up-to-date state of knowledge about amber, the concepts of all exhibitions are changed as new results of continuously conducted research are obtained. This time we are trying to draw attention to the spread of amber and other fossil resins in Poland and around the world. Apart from specimens illustrating the richness of amber varieties and the extraordinary world of inclusions (animal and plant), we also present interpretations of research on the genesis of amber and reconstructions of an amber forest. Presenting raw material from the Sambian (Russia), Ukrainian (Ukraine) and Bitterfeldian (Germany) deposits as well as from secondary deposits of the Baltic coast, we show where amber deposits were formed at least 40 million years ago and where it can be found in Poland and why exactly there.
