Exhibition "1025: The Birth of a Kingdom".

What kind of state was the kingdom of Bolesław Chrobry? Where did its greatest riches lie? What did its inhabitants do for a living? What did they eat, how did they live, what did they believe in? A new temporary exhibition at the Polish History Museum commemorating the 1000th anniversary of the coronation of Poland's first king tells the story of all this. Visitors will embark on a journey through early medieval Poland: a colourful land of fortified castles, rich in forests, lakes, rivers and wetlands. Ancient traditions coexisted there with traditions taken from outside Christianity and the Mediterranean world.

The exhibition "1025. Birth of the Kingdom" is the first in a series of cultural events organised in Poland to mark the 1000th anniversary of the coronation of the first Polish king. A unique set of over 500 early medieval artefacts, it helps to outline a unique story about the roots of our state. The exhibition "The Birth of the Kingdom" presents in one place archaeological artefacts connected with everyday life, medicine or non-Christian beliefs, together with world-class relics of goldsmithery from, among others, the royal treasury of the Piasts. There is no shortage of artefacts that are not normally on public display.

The story of the Piast kingdom is contained in 5 thematic modules. The narrative is complemented by numerous interactive stations, including scent and touch, as well as multimedia, listening and infographics.
