We would like to invite you to the European Days of Archaeology at the Royal Łazienki Museum. This will be an opportunity to discover the mysteries of the past, learn about history and explore cultural heritage. There will also be attractions such as the search for architectural remains in the Łazienki gardens using GPR.
European Archaeology Days is a European initiative aimed at popularising archaeological heritage. Poland has been actively participating in the event since 2019. This year, the European Days of Archaeology are also taking place at the Royal Lazienki Museum. The programme includes workshops for children and adults, as well as an outdoor exhibition, which will be an excellent opportunity to explore the rich history of the royal residence.
"Peacocks, tubs and pyramids - the work of an archaeologist in the Royal Baths Park" - workshop for adults and young people (16+)
records:
The workshop will introduce us to the fascinating world of archaeologists. During a short lecture, we will learn the secrets of their work on the site of the 18th century royal residence. We will talk about non-invasive research methods (geo-referencing, geophysical) and archaeological equipment. We will learn what secrets the royal residence conceals, such as where Stanisław II August took his baths, and where the royal pyramid stood. In the second part of the workshop, we will go into the field with archaeologists. Using specialised equipment for geophysical research, including GPR, we will look for the remains of the architecture of the former garden, hidden below ground level. Conducting: Arkadiusz Cegliński, Wiesław Małkowski.
