Open Day at Reduta Wawelska

Open Day at Reduta Wawelska

We are delighted to invite you to the third edition of the WAWELSKA REDUTA OPEN DAY festival, which this year is entitled 'OKRUCHY WSPOMNIEŃ'. This is a unique event, during which we once again open the gate of the tenement house at WAWELSKA 60, giving access to its hidden garden courtyard - a green enclave, normally inaccessible to visitors. 6 09 Reduta's space will become a meeting place, a common celebration of history and neighbourhood
"OKRUCHY WSPOMNIEŃ" is a story about the intangible heritage of the Colony, about what is invisible yet fundamental : the memory of the first community, the values of cooperativism and the architectural vision of Marian Lalewicz. The identity of a place that has survived not only the test of time but also the dramatic events of the 20th century. The Cooperative Workers' House of the Ministry of Railways earned the name "WAWELSKA REDUTA", being the last point of resistance of the Warsaw Insurgents in Ochota - a tenement defended like a fortress. Today it still serves its original function, being our home, a place that teems with life, embodying the idea of a conscious neighbourhood and urban community.
The festival programme includes a guided historical walk, lectures and talks on the heritage and identity of the Colony, an exhibition, concerts, an evening dance with live music and an outdoor film screening.
The Ochota District of the City of Warsaw is a partner of the event, and the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising has assumed honorary patronage of the Festival.
