For many years now, a solemn concert has been held at the "Sierpnia 1944" Square on the eve of the next anniversary of the Wola Massacre, organised by the Wolski Cultural Centre and the "Sierpnia 1944" Square Residents' Initiative. With a moment of reflection, a concert and joint singing of well-known pre-war and wartime songs, the memory of the victims of the Wola Massacre is commemorated. A concert about freedom, memory and contemporary patriotism.
The 'Ask about Poland' concert is an invitation to reflect on the contemporary meaning of the homeland, freedom and responsibility for a common future. It is also a reminder of the great value of remembering those who built Poland and which we can care about today not only on holidays.
The 'Ask about Poland' concert features songs from different eras - from patriotic and wartime songs such as 'Warszawskie dzieci', 'Rozkwitały pąki białych róż' or the moving 'Dziś idę walczyć, Mamo', through songs from the repertoire of the 'Forbidden Songs' associated with the Warsaw Uprising, to contemporary musical reflections in songs such as 'Nie pytaj o Polskę' by Grzegorz Ciechowski or 'Sen o Warszawie' by Czesław Niemen. It is a musical story about freedom, memory and responsibility - values which, despite the passage of time, still shape our everyday life. During the concert, we will hear songs which, in different periods of Polish history, were a manifesto of hope, a call for freedom or a record of everyday longings.
They will perform:
Małgorzata Kozłowska - vocals,
Urszula Borkowska - piano
