The Brazilian trio oscillating between jazz and funk returns to Europe with previously unreleased recordings from the early 1970s, released via London-based Far Out Recordings.
Founded in 1968 in Rio de Janeiro, the band Azymuth is responsible for creating a completely new sound, combining jazz-funk with samba, which became known as 'samba doido' (crazy samba).
Having recorded more than 30 albums over an astonishing five-year career, their latest release Fênix was the pretext for the trio's return to the international stage, during which they once again proved why they are widely regarded as the most successful band in Brazil.
Azymuth live is a journey through the full spectrum of their brilliantly coloured expressionist funk, with all the cosmic energy and musical mastery you'd expect from the world's greatest three-piece orchestra.
Bruno Berle is a musician from Maceió, in northeastern Brazil, known for his unique blend of tropical soul and Música Popular Brasileira (MPB). His album No Reino Dos Afetos showcases his high-pitched vocals in charming, lo-fi Brazilian songs about love, ambient, warm house beats. The compositions are unusual, full of nuance and detail, evoking associations with Caetana Veloso's avant-garde album Araçá Azul.
