We would like to invite you to an author meeting around the book 'Kadry z widokiem na wojnę. Film polski w czasie II wojny światowej" combined with a concert of wartime songs performed by Michał Maj Wieczorek.
In September 1939, Polish filmmakers, in extremely difficult conditions, took up arms with the unusual weapon of the film image. Documenting the fate of Poles on the fronts of almost the entire world, they showed the truth about the wartime reality falsified by German propaganda. The films made at the time fuelled the soldiers' fighting spirit and won the Poles allies.
Today, the images recorded over 80 years ago are an invaluable historical source and a testimony to the cruelty of World War II. Michał Maj Wieczorek's book proves that this time was not a 'black hole' in the history of Polish cinematography, and that the film output of Poles was an important tool in the fight for the country's independence.
