A past written in the genes
DNA records information not only about what we look like and how our bodies function, but also about who our ancestors were and where they came from. More than 10 years ago, archaeogenomics was established - a field that studies the history of species based on the analysis of genetic material. One of its co-founders, Swedish evolutionist and geneticist Svante Pääbo, was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2022.

At the March Evening for Adults you will find out what archaeogenomicists have already discovered. Have the Slavs always lived on Polish territory? How do we know that prehistoric cannibals lived near Krakow? You will also get to know the seven great women of Europe - Ursula, Xenia, Katarzyna, Tara, Velda, Jasmine and Helena, from whom almost half of all Poles are descended.
