We invite you to a concert featuring soloists, choir, ballet, and orchestra of the Mazowsze National Folk Song and Dance Ensemble, conducted by maestro Jacek Boniecki. The performance will be preceded by a group dance of the polonaise.
The concert will take place in the recreation area next to the Hermitage (ul. Myśliwiecka 1).
One of the highlights of the event will be a joint performance of the polonaise by "Mazowsze" with invited guests and the audience (4:00 p.m. – exact location to be announced soon). In this way, the group will pay tribute to Andrzej Wajda, one of the greatest filmmakers in Polish cinema, on the occasion of the Andrzej Wajda Year, established by the Senate of the Republic of Poland on the centenary of the director's birth.
The famous final scene, one of the most recognizable sequences in the history of Polish cinema, comes from the film "Pan Tadeusz," in which the "Mazowsze" artists and their actors dance a polonaise together, choreographed by Michał Jarczyk and set to music by Wojciech Kilar. This dance, inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, will symbolically return to the set of Andrzej Wajda's production and represent a sense of community and the continued preservation of Polish tradition.
The concert by the Mazowsze National Folk Song and Dance Ensemble, conducted by maestro Jacek Boniecki, will take place at 5:00 PM. It will begin with a screening of a documentary about Andrzej Wajda's collaboration with the Mazowsze ensemble, based on archival recordings and photographs related to the making of the film "Pan Tadeusz" and the participants' recollections.
The concert will be an extraordinary journey filled with captivating music, fantastic choreography, the most famous Masovian songs, and unforgettable energy and enthusiasm. The group will present the most beautiful vocal and dance suites from various regions of Poland. We will experience traditional national dances such as the krakowiak, kujawiak, mazur, oberek, and polonaise. Each dance will be enhanced by beautiful folk costumes representing 20 ethnographic regions of Poland.
