From July 15–19, 2026, the Polish Classics Theatre and the Royal Łazienki Museum invite you to the "Fredro in Łazienki" festival – a unique event dedicated to the work of one of Poland's greatest comedy writers. The Szeptycki Family Foundation is a partner of the festival.
The inauguration date is no coincidence. July 15, 2026, marks the 150th anniversary of the death of Aleksander Fredro, author of works that have entertained, moved, and aptly commented on human flaws for generations. The festival will be an opportunity to rediscover his work and to view it from the perspective of a contemporary audience.
For five days, the Royal Łazienki Park will be transformed into a meeting place for theater, history, and education. The program will include Fredro's productions by the Polish Classics Theatre, discussions with artists and researchers, screenings of Fredro's plays from the TVP Theatre archives, events for children and families, and outdoor games in the Garden.
The festival opens on July 15th at the Amphitheater with the play "Revenge." In the following days, audiences will also be able to see "Annuity," "Maidens' Vows," and the premiere of "Ladies and Hussars."
The festival will be accompanied by an outdoor exhibition devoted to the life and work of Aleksander Fredro. The exhibition will present key facts from the writer's biography and the historical and cultural context of his era, allowing visitors to better understand the author of works that have been present on Polish stages for almost two centuries.
"Fredro in Łazienki" will be not only a celebration of theater but also a space for dialogue between tradition and modernity. For five days in July, audiences will be able to participate in events taking place in the most beautiful spaces of the Royal Łazienki Park – the Amphitheater, the Hermitage, the Kubicki Stables, and the Garden's outdoor locations.
The "Fredro in Łazienki" festival promises to be one of the most important cultural events of the summer of 2026 in Warsaw, combining theatre, education and the unique atmosphere of the historic royal residence.
