The Fryderyk Chopin National Piano Competition was held for the first time in 1968 and is now one of the most important national piano competitions. Organised by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, it is addressed to Polish music youth - students of the Academies of Music and pupils of second-cycle music schools. It is held annually, except for the years preceding the International Chopin Competition, and can be a kind of ticket to it - 1st and 2nd prize at the Chopin Competition entitles one to participate in the international competition without preliminary selection. Winners who have been successful in both competitions include Janusz Olejniczak, Krystian Zimerman, Ewa Pobłocka, Krzysztof Jabłoński, Wojciech Świtała and Rafał Blechacz.

The 53rd Fryderyk Chopin National Piano Competition will be held at the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw, from 1 to 9 February 2025. The Jury of the Competition will consist of eminent pianists and pedagogues: Prof. Katarzyna Popowa - Zydroñ, Prof. Ewa Pob³ocka, Prof. Piotr Paleczny, Prof. Wojciech Świtała, Prof. Waldemar Wojtal, Prof. Paweł Zawadzki and Dr. Paweł Wakarecy.

The competition has three stages. The first two stages are solo recitals; in the final, pianists will perform a piano concerto selected from those indicated in the regulations, accompanied by an orchestra.
