The Singer's Warsaw Festival, run continuously since 2004 by the Shalom Foundation, combines the memory of Jewish cultural heritage with inspiration for contemporary artists. This year marks its 22nd edition, entitled 'From tradition to avant-garde'.
During the festival, Warsaw will become a multicultural space for dialogue. Klezmer-style music, concerts by cantors, theatre performances, film screenings and exhibitions on the history and culture of Jews in Poland will be at the centre of events.
Every year, the foundation invites artists from all over the world - from Israel, the USA, Scandinavian countries, France, Belgium, Canada or Hungary.
The festival not only recalls the bygone world of pre-war Warsaw, but also inspires artists with modern art. The programme includes workshops in Jewish cuisine, ceramics, Hebrew calligraphy or Israeli dance, as well as panel discussions and literary meetings.
Yiddish will once again resound in the centre of the capital, and spaces such as pl. Grzybowski and Próżna Streets will come alive with sounds, smells and conversations - as if they were once again teeming with the spirit of pre-war Warsaw.
The programme includes ticketed events as well as many open and free events. A detailed programme of events is available on the organiser's website by clicking "See more".
