The whole world between us. 22nd Millennium Docs Against Gravity.

Seven cities, more than 165,000 spectators and viewers in 2024, several hundred volunteers_y across the country - all these people, institutions and places make up the MDAG festival family. Thanks to their work and love of cinema over two decades, Millennium Docs Against Gravity has become the second largest documentary film festival in Europe, just after the IDFA festival in Amsterdam. Such a huge undertaking is the result of the work of many people. The focus of this year's poster is on their most numerous group, the volunteers_. It features two long-standing volunteers from different generations - Zofia and Anna. The slogan for this year's MDAG also refers to a sense of community and reads 'Between us the whole world'.

The 22nd edition of Millennium Docs Against Gravity will take place from 9 - 18 May in cinemas in Warsaw, Wrocław, Gdynia, Poznań, Katowice, Łódź and Bydgoszcz and from 20 May to 2 June online at mdag.pl! The unforgettable film journeys will traditionally be accompanied by meetings with the filmmakers_women and heroes_and debates around important topics presented on screen.

Each year, the Millennium Docs Against Gravity programme has no shortage of new thematic sections that address issues of particular importance to filmmakers over the past 12 months. The festival keeps its finger on the pulse, sensing trends emerging in the documentary industry. This year we will present up to five new sections: Political Science, On Photography, Investigative Editorial, American Contrasts and Women Change the World.

We also invite you to an augmented reality exhibition. It takes us on a fascinating journey through the frontiers of human consciousness and technology. Five unique works explore different ways of expanding our own perception. This year's exhibition showcases a broad spectrum of immersive media and explores various forms of storytelling in which technology becomes a tool in the hands of the creators.

The festival programme also includes a set of exceptional films that have made a special mark in the history of Millennium Docs Against Gravity and documentary cinema. 10 unforgettable screenings of classics and newer films worth knowing will be held under the banner of The Best of MDAG. They will be accompanied in Warsaw by meetings with legendary filmmakers and filmmakers such as David France, Guy David, Lauren Greenfield and many others.

The 22nd Millennium Docs Against Gravity will be a fascinating journey not only around the world, but also through many important topics - from ecology, politics, psychology, human rights, art (including avant-garde art), pop culture and family relationships.
