"And what will you return to them for what they have given to you?"

Inspired by the quote "remember that they gave birth to you, and what will you repay them for what they have given you?", we ask about intergenerational obligations and what place the family has in contemporary society. In our WHOLE PROGRAMME you will find an attempt to answer these questions, in every performance, film and concert.

Sarah Kofman – francuska filozofka, eseistka, profesorka Sorbony, związana z nurtem dekonstrukcjonizmu – była bliską współpracowniczką Jacques’a Derridy i Gilles’a Deleuze’a. Jednak mimo imponującego dorobku naukowego obejmującego filozofię, sztukę, psychoanalizę, literaturę i feminizm, nigdy nie zdobyła należnego jej miejsca w gronie najwybitniejszych postaci światowej filozofii.
Kofman napisała wiele książek i niezliczone artykuły, ale dopiero pod koniec życia odważyła się opowiedzieć o sobie. O swoim dzieciństwie rozpiętym między dwoma matkami i o symbolicznym nieustannym „krążeniu” między rue Ordener – kojarzoną z jej żydowską tożsamością, a rue Labat – związaną z procesem asymilacji; krążeniu, które stało się źródłem jej wewnętrznego konfliktu tożsamościowego.
Sztuczna, wytworzona na lata tożsamość nie tylko pozwoliła przetrwać Kofman wojnę i uniknąć śmierci, ale także umożliwiła refleksję nad tym, co najgłębiej tkwiło w jej własnym „ja”. Przyglądając się tej osobistej historii Kofman, powinniśmy zadać sobie pytanie: na co właściwie patrzymy i kogo tak naprawdę widzimy?

W spektaklu pojawia się tematy: śmierci samobójczej, zaburzenia odżywiania, przemocy wobec dzieci. Palone są na scenie papierosy.
Twórcy

The Warsaw interdisciplinary festival, organised by the John Paul II Thought Centre and co-created by Piotr Duda and Marek Pasieczny, has existed since 2008 and is organised during the Lenten season.

Each edition of the Festival (there was none in 2011 and 2015) has its own theme, which inspires the artists invited to collaborate, and at the same time is the common denominator of the festival events.

During the 16th edition of the New Epiphanies Festival, traditionally held during Lent under the motto "What will you pay them back for what they have given you?", we will reflect on what intergenerational obligations mean for us - both "childless Lambadians" and holders of the Large Family Card - and on the place of the family in contemporary society.
