A guide to the best restaurants serving lunch, here's where to have a delicious lunch out on the town

Lunch in Warsaw is a routine for the locals, especially those who work in the capital and are more or less forced to eat out. We know from experience that lunch time is the time for various types of meetings, business ones as well as ones among friends.

After all, the most basic meals in the life of almost all people are breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thanks to those, the human organism gets enough energy necessary for everyday functioning. However, we don't always dispose of enough time to prepare a meal at home and bring it to work the next day. That's when Warsaw's restaurateurs come in to help, with their constantly evolving and more and more creative lunch offers. We're here to assure you that the times when lunch out in the city wasn't a very tempting choice are over.

Where to have lunch in Warsaw

Lunch is what we call a light meal, usually one main course, which is eaten during a short lunch break. Lunch time doesn't have strict rules, it's usually served between around noon and 6 PM. Therefore, it is easy to adjust its consumption to the break at work. We have selected 6 restaurants for you with a dedicated lunch offer that will pamper your palate and allow you to relax in a non-office environment and, most importantly, will not be terribly expensive.

InFormal Kitchen

The Informal Kitchen concept is all about comfort food, defined as dishes that uplift the mood, envelop you, and provide a sense of fulfilment. The chefs at Informal Kitchen are not lacking in creativity, but you won't find molecular gastronomy or tiny tasting portions here. The food is served straightforwardly, informally, but incredibly delicious. The restaurant's spacious interior is elegant, conservative, and classy. The tables take up a significant space, encouraging guests to come in larger groups or socialise with others-a setting for long, convivial gatherings.

During lunchtime, the restaurant offers a wide selection, ranging from soups and main courses-both meat and vegetarian-to desserts and drinks. Everyone can find something suitable for their appetite or dietary restrictions. The restaurant publishes its lunch menu on its Facebook profile every day. An example lunch includes tomato fish soup and a choice of tilapia in beer batter, pancakes with strawberry filling, gorgonzola and fruit salad or pizza, and dessert, all for the cost of 39 Polish zloty. Lunch is served from 12:00, and you can also order it for takeaway.

Warszawa Wschodnia

Eastern Warsaw, the starting point for your culinary journey through French and Polish cuisine. Located in the Praga district of Warsaw, this restaurant is a lunchtime classic. The spacious hall adorned with an incredible atmosphere is the perfect setting for business meetings, casual outings with friends, or romantic dinners. Thanks to the open kitchen, you have the opportunity to observe professional chefs at work. The elegant interior, professional service, and overall ambiance create an ideal atmosphere for a break during which you can simply relax and truly savour the dishes served. Mateusz Gessler, the chef, indeed knows how to feed exceptionally well.

The lunch, like the entire menu, primarily features Polish cuisine with a touch of international inspiration. There's a strong influence of France, with which the owner is closely connected. You can find the weekly menu on the restaurant's Facebook profile. Among the offerings are pea soup, turkey meatballs, carrot and horseradish salad, mashed potatoes or stuffed mushrooms, paprika sauce, and salad. For dessert, there's a fabulous Florentine. Lunch is served from 12 to 4 PM, at a cost of approximately 35 Polish zloty.

Regina Bar

Regina is usually the go-to place when the mood strikes for an exquisite cocktail in pleasant company. However, it's not just the cocktails that are delightful; the atmosphere is exceptional-great music, interesting decor, and cozy lighting. All of this creates a vibe of a lively metropolis, filled with culture, art, and influences from cuisines around the world. If you happen to visit during lunchtime, you'll have the opportunity to indulge in Regina's lunch offerings.

The unique lunches at Regina, in a cosmopolitan style, blend New York chic with the simplicity of Italian cuisine and a hint of Asian influences. Regina Bar has two locations, each with a slightly different lunch menu, so it's worth checking in advance what they're serving on a given day. For a set that includes ginger broth with dumplings or tofu, along with General Tso's chicken or Yu Xiang eggplant, you'll pay 35 Polish zloty.

Mąka i Woda

This place is a classic, a sure thing known to most regulars of Warsaw restaurants. The modern establishment is located in a courtyard on Chmielna Street, right in the centre of the capital. Freshly made pasta, Neapolitan-style pizza, organic bread, on-site crafted deli meats, and vegetables and fruits from local producers form the foundations of the restaurant's menu. Recently, a local micro-bakery has also been operating on-site. All bread is handmade, leavened using only organic flour, ground in a stone mill. Freshly ground grains of rye, spelt, emmer, or einkorn are a valuable source of nutrients, fibre, and antioxidants, and the bread baked from them tastes superb. Recently, brioche with seasonal fruits, escargot with pistachios or hazelnuts and frangipane, and morning buns have been added to the menu.

The lunch, priced at 35 zloty, includes soup or an appetizer, as well as pizza and pasta. The menu may seem simple at first glance, yet the taste experience is like a journey to sunny Italy-sensual and deep. Characteristic, distinct flavours, simple compositions, perfectly reflecting the quality of the ingredients, are the hallmark of "Mąka i Woda" (Flour and Water). Nothing has changed over the years; it's just very well done. Well, maybe except for the lunch menu because that changes every day, although you always get: an appetizer, a main course, and a carafe of water. Dessert can be ordered separately.

Syty Chmiel

This place is ruled by Mr. Tasak, or Wit Szychowski. Boldly, we can say that he practices spectacular culinary acrobatics, resulting in undeniably perfect dishes. The kitchen at Syty Chmiel relies on local Polish products and ingredients made on-site. There are no semi-finished products here; even the butter is made from scratch. Lunch at Syty Chmiel is a real pleasure. You might want to call it a truly homemade dinner, but without offense to moms and grandmas - here, the student has surpassed the master. He has added a secret knowledge, years of experience, and decidedly above-average taste to traditional recipes.

On the lunch menu, you'll find options such as cucumber soup, beef cutlets in their own sauce, baked potatoes, cold beets with pickled cucumber, or stuffed peppers with bulgur and porcini mushrooms. Also, baked with smoked goat cheese and served with beets. Lunch is served, like in most places, from 12 to 4, at a price of 28 zloty. You can add homemade lemonade or compote to the set for 5 zł.

The Cool Cat

Last but not least, a place that offers one of the more interesting lunch menus in Warsaw. Just like the already iconic breakfasts at The Cool Cat, their lunches have that characteristic, crazy twist with a hint of Asian flavours. Every Monday, the restaurant publishes its weekly lunch menu on its Facebook profile. An example menu consists of soup, a main course, and dessert, all for around £30. The Cool Cat feeds you deliciously, creatively, and in a very pleasant atmosphere. You can savour flavours such as miso soup with wakame, baked mushrooms, and basil; eggplant in panko with peanut butter sauce; potatoes with dill on gzik, and a salad with cilantro, green beans, and Sichuan pepper. There's also oven-baked chicken with peanut butter sauce, potatoes with dill on gzik, and a salad with cilantro, green beans, and Sichuan pepper. For dessert, tapioca, watermelon, and sweet coconut milk.

The menu is crafted so that everyone can find something for themselves, whether they follow a vegan diet or have dietary restrictions such as lactose, casein, and gluten intolerance. Just ask the staff or read the menu, as each item is precisely described.
