Mikołaj Ólafur Frach was born in 2000 in Ísafjörður, Iceland. He started learning piano at the age of six under his mother Iwona Frach. Since 2017, he has studied in the piano class of Professor Janusz Olejniczak while also being his student at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He is currently studying at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków in the class of Prof. Mariola Cieniawa-Puchała.
Nicolas has received many awards and prizes and has participated in masterclasses given by well-known professors viz: Kevin Kenner, Andrzej Jasinski, Janina Fialkowska, Wojciech Świtała, Dina Yoffe, Ewa Kupiec and Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń.
Nicholas has given concerts in Iceland, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Lithuania, performing solo recitals and taking part in many major music festivals: Festival "Chopin en Vacances" (Poland-Lithuania), "Klassíkinn okkar" in Reykjavik, Pianofestival NederRijnLand (Germany-Holland) and at the Festival ,,Wawel o zmierzchu" at the Royal Castle in Krakow. As a soloist, he performed both piano concertos of Fryderyk Chopin with the Icelandic National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Daniel Bjarnasson. He gave concerts and made recordings with the outstanding violinists Janusz Wawrowski and Piotr Tarcholik. He has also appeared on Polish Radio RDC and on Icelandic State Radio and Television RUV.
