APHKHAZETI is a unique combination of Georgian dance, strongly rooted in the nation's tradition, with contemporary choreography and music. It is an ensemble with a history of less than 100 years, officially founded in 1931, which constantly tours the world, bringing audiences closer to everything that is most beautiful in Georgian culture - tradition, folklore and incredible energy.

The war in Abkhazia and the subsequent Russian occupation of the entire region forced the artists to move to Tbilisi in 1992, but despite the difficulties, APHKHKAZETI retained its character, skills and unique colour! In March 2021 - with the arrival of a young and talented artistic director, the legendary Bachan Chanturia - a new phase in the ensemble's history began. He invited well-known Georgian composers, together they prepared a unique musical accompaniment and it is this programme - Choreonicon - that he will present in Poland!

APHKHAZETI features traditional excerpts from Georgian music in a completely new version, performed by a live orchestra, as well as spectacular dances of different regions interpreted by the legendary Bachan Chanturia! The innovation was so groundbreaking that over the past two years the ensemble has performed in many regions of Georgia, touring abroad as well. Ethnicity, ballet and modernity, in other words a delightful show, the likes of which have never been seen in Poland before!
