The new permanent gallery at the MNW shows how design was thought of in different eras and creative circles - from the Zakopane circle, the Cracow Workshops, the Lad artists' cooperative and modernists from the Praesens group, through the post-war period of reconstruction, socialist realism, the thaw and post-thaw modernity - the most dynamic years of Polish design - to examples of the best contemporary design.
Industrial design, design for children and ethno-design have a separate place in the book.
The gallery, arranged in a modern way, presents works from mass production, popular television and radio sets, furniture, textiles, household appliances, as well as outstanding works by Polish authors, which have not been seen by the general public as designs, models and prototypes. However, these works testify to the great potential of Polish design thought. Created with exceptional ingenuity, the objects of everyday use are presented in a chronological arrangement determined by the most important artistic and historical events. The whole is enriched by photographic materials and excerpts from archival newsreels.
