The exhibition in the main hall of the Museum presents the geological history of the Polish area, from the Archaic to nearly modern times. The showcases in which specimens of individual systems are presented are colour-coded with colours used in standard stratigraphic tables and geological maps. The exposition presents general information on each era and period, typical fossils as well as rocks and minerals occurring in Poland divided into specific regions. Very impressive exhibits include skeletons of Quaternary mammals, a model of a dilophosaurus, dinosaur tracks and tree trunks from the Carboniferous and Neogene.
