The main theme of the exhibition is the activities of the underground group operating in the Warsaw Ghetto under the name Oneg Shabbat - (Hebrew: Joy of Saturday) and the fate of the unique collection created by it from its inception until today. The history written on the pages of the Archive also reveals the fate of its authors, and it is to them that we give the floor after 70 years. The originator and main creator of the Archive was the historian Dr Emanuel Ringelblum. The Oneg Shabbat work, which is a testimony to intellectual and spiritual resistance, was created in accordance with scientific principles, with care for objectivity and careful language.
The exhibition shows documents hidden at the risk of their lives in one of the basements of the ghetto - documents, letters and wills of those going to their deaths, accounts of witnesses and victims of genocide. Testimonies that include the pain and suffering of individual people. They were collected and put in order in the saved building of the former Judaic Library, the current headquarters of the Jewish Historical Institute and the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute in Poland.
