Exhibition in the Rabbit House Sculpture Park

Exhibition in the Rabbit House Sculpture Park

In the historic park, as in the whole of Królikarnia, history merges with the present. Surrounded by trees and bushes, we create the Sculpture Park, where we present selected works from the extensive collection of the National Museum in Warsaw.

The Rabbit House Sculpture Park has the character of a work on collecting and a statement on the phenomenon of collecting itself. Its origins were in an 18th-century private garden in the English style, with a seemingly feral nature, picturesque glades and nooks that can be discovered by walking down a beaten path from the main avenue. Only two sculptures are known from archival engravings. The bridge over the gorge was guarded by lions with slender and elegant bodies. They have not survived to the present day and it remains a matter of conjecture whether the broken body of the predatory animal deposited in the Museum's warehouse is the former decoration depicted in the engraving.
