The exhibition 'The History of Polish Sport and Olympism' charts the history of sport from ancient Greece through the birth of the modern Olympic Games (19th century) and the beginnings of sport in Poland (19th/20th century) to the present day.

More than 3,000 artefacts and almost 600 photographs, mainly related to Polish sport and tourism, were collected in an area of around 1,000 m in the Olympic Centre. The selection was preceded by difficult discussions, as the Museum's collection comprises more than 50,000 exhibits and 55,000 photographs. More than 40 disciplines are presented in various aspects of the exhibition; these include athletics, cycling, skiing, skating, tennis, fencing, horse riding football, canoeing, judo, sailing, mountaineering, summer and winter tourism.

Among the exhibition's highlights are the original Olympic medals or the canoe on which Karol Wojtyła - later to become Pope John Paul II - sailed on the Masurian lakes. The exhibition is supplemented by numerous films, sound recordings and multimedia presentations.

The exhibition takes a closer look at the silhouettes of many outstanding athletes representing numerous sports disciplines. Among the most outstanding are the Kuchar brothers, Zbyszko Cyganiewicz, Waldemar Baszanowski, Bronisław Czech, Janusz Kusociński, Maria Kwaśniewska, Stanisława Walasiewicz, Jadwiga Jędrzejowska, Karol Rómmel, Adam Pappé, Jerzy Kulej, Irena Szewińska, Bronisław Malinowski, Stanisław Królak, Ryszard Szurkowski, Władysław Komar, Kazimierz Deyna, Wanda Rutkiewicz, Mateusz Kusznierewicz, Otylia Jędrzejczak, Adam Małysz, Robert Korzeniowski....
