The uncompromising trio from the United States Sumac is coming to Poland! Their raw and atmospheric sound will be heard in Warsaw's Hydrozagadka on 15 April and a day later in Poznan's 2Progi. The Americans will be joined by Finnish band Pharaoh Overlord.<\/p>\n
Sumac's sound is raw, heavy and improvisational, and the songs often take the form of long, intense compositions full of dissonances, polyrhythms and drone soundscapes. Their music is not only instrumental but also emotionally heavy - full of tension, brutal honesty and experimentation with form. They often introduce elements of free improvisation, drawing inspiration from free jazz and the avant-garde. The band was formed in 2014 by Aaron Turner (known for Isis, Old Man Gloom and Mamiffer) on vocals and guitar, Brian Cook (Russian Circles, Botch, These Arms Are Snakes) on bass and Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists) on drums. Each Sumac album is a journey into the unknown, demanding full commitment from the listener. They have four studio albums to their credit and their most recent release is the 2024 EP 'The Healer'.<\/p>\n
Pharaoh Overlord originated as a side project of the members of Circle, the legendary Finnish avant-rock band. Over the years, their work has undergone considerable sonic evolution - from hypnotic, minimalist stoner rock to synth landscapes straight out of cosmic electronic music. The Finnish band explores different strains of experimental rock, krautrock, stoner and electronica. Pharaoh Overlord is a band that consistently escapes genre frameworks. Their music is hypnotic and often almost ritualistic, and each album is a new approach to structure and sound. Founded 25 years ago, the band has nine studio albums to their credit, with their most recent release being 2020's '6'<\/p>\n
