ENEJ is a Polish music band, representing folk music in the broadest sense of the term with the addition of many other genres, founded in 2002 in Olsztyn. The group's name is derived from the name of the main character of "The Aeneid" by Ivan Kotliarevsky (the first work written in the Ukrainian literary language) - Enea, i.e. a merry Cossack travelling around the world. Piotr and Pavel Solodukh are of Ukrainian origin, Miroslav Ortynsky was born in Lviv and the other five musicians are Polish.
To its credit, ENEJ has five original studio albums - "Ulice" (2008), "Folkorabel" (2010, gold record), "Folkhorod" (2012, triple platinum), "Paparanoja" (2015, platinum), "Idealny Sen" (2021), two discs of carol repertoire: "Carols Under the Common Sky" (2018), "Carols with the First Star" (2022) and a DVD recording of a concert from the 2011 Woodstock Festival. The band Enej has also recorded an album deviating from its mainstream: "A skiela Wy?", which contains 12 folk songs and songs re-arranged. The albums popularity is certainly influenced by the singles: 'Radio Hello', 'Skrzydlate Ręce', 'Tak smakuje Życie', 'Lili', 'Symmetrically Lyrical', 'Zbudujemy Dom', 'Kamień z napisem LOVE', 'Lost' and 'Ostatni Raz'. In addition to their original repertoire, for several years ENEJ has been presenting a concert of Christmas carols, arranged in their characteristic style, in the winter period, which is no less popular than the songs known from the radio.
Their extraordinary style, diversity, energy and uniqueness also permeate beyond Poland's borders. Enej has given concerts in the USA, the UK, Lithuania, Ukraine, Italy, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany or Ireland, everywhere meeting with a lively reception from the audience.
In 2023, the band signed a contract with Universal Music Polska, with whom they released their latest CD, VESNA, on 1 March 2024.
