Sunday Chopin Recitals in Żelazowa Wola: Krzysztof Jabłoński

Krzysztof Jablonski.
Laureate of the 3rd prize at the 11th Chopin Competition in Warsaw (1985) and many major prizes at international piano competitions, including the Gold Medal at the Artur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv (1989). He performs on the stages of Europe, the Americas and Asia, and has given, among others He has performed, among others, recitals in the prestigious series of master concerts at the Berlin Philharmonic, played with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, the Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR, the symphony orchestras of Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Brno and Lahti, National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw and the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, under the baton of such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Andrey Boreyko, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jerzy Semkow, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Frans Brüggen, Witold Rowicki, Antoni Wit, Jan Krenz and Jacek Kaspszyk.

As a chamber musician, he has appeared with Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi and Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, among others. He is also a pianist with the Warsaw Quintet. He collaborates on stagings of ballets, operas and takes part in multimedia projects (e.g. the ballet Fortepianissimo to Lorca Massine's choreography or the performance of the piano version of Debussy's Peleas et Melisande). The pianist's output includes many records released in Germany, Japan and Poland. The Fryderyk Chopin Institute has published two of his albums of Chopin's etudes (on contemporary and historical piano).

Krzysztof Jabłoński studied under Janina Butor. He completed his studies with honours under Andrzej Jasiński at the Academy of Music in Katowice. In 2006 he was awarded the title of professor. He is regularly invited to give lectures, masterclasses and participate in the juries of international piano competitions, including Chopin competitions around the world.

Professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw from 2004 to 2017, he has also taught at Mount Royal University in Calgary and the University of Calgary. Since 2022, he has been Head of Piano & Keyboard Department at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (Head of Piano & Keyboard, Academic Leader of Piano & Keyboard, Tenured Professor).

The Sunday Chopin Recitals in Żelazowa Wola provide an opportunity to listen to performances by the most eminent Polish and foreign pianists, world-renowned professors and winners of International Chopin Competitions. The 45-minute concerts take place during the season from May to the end of September, every Sunday at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. In addition, the recitals at 12 p.m. on the last two Sundays of the month are broadcast on the YouTube channel and Facebook page of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute.
