"When human memory fades..."
I would like to invite you to a sentimental walk through one of the oldest necropolises in Warsaw - Stare Powązki. A magical place, full of historic tombstones and the resting place of the most eminent Poles. During the walk, we will recall the figures who created the history of the city.
Spotykamy się w piątek, 2 maja 2025 r. o godz. 14:00 przed II bramą – św. Honoraty, ul. Powązkowska 1. Spacer przewidziany jest na około 90 minut.
We find out:
- What important figure lies at the entrance to the Cemetery?
- Where does Warsaw's first meteorologist rest?
– Kogo nazywano polską Marilyn Monroe?
- Who deceived Bolesław Bierut and how?
- Where does the royal architect rest?
- Where do the founders of the cemetery lie?
- Which grave was most visited at the turn of the 20th century?
- Where are the parents, teachers and pupil of Fryderyk Chopin laid to rest?
- To whom do we owe the "Cheap Railways"?
- Who was the 'iron florist'?
- Why is there a 'Slice' on one of the graves?
- What is the cannon doing in the Cemetery?
– Kto nie bał się sprzeciwić samemu Stalinowi?
and many more...
There is no charge for taking part in the walk, however, if you feel that the guide deserves a tip (...)
The walk will be led by a Warsaw Notebook city guide.
